Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

Happy Father’s Day!

Another Father’s Day, another tie for Dad. He does like ties. But this year why not give him one as sweet as he is?

In other words, give Dad a tie cake this Father’s Day!

Yes, Dad can eat this tie. Image and step-by-step instructions on how to make this cake found here.

Don’t forget the ice-cream cake option. Dad will thank you either way, and I’m sure he’ll share a slice or two. Happy Father’s Day, Dad! Love you.

Dad can eat this tie, too. But he might get a brain freeze. Image (and ice-cream cake by): Carvel.

Spring has sprung, and that means one important thing to our feathered friends. Time to build a nest!

The weaver bird shows off impressive beak-knitting skills.

Bald eagles need room. And lots of it.

Hummingbirds just want a cozy nook.

White storks like roof access.

Swallows prefer a wall. And some mud.

Eurasian coots like a waterfront view.

And this is what it’s ALL about. These beautiful sparrow’s eggs couldn’t ask for a homier dwelling.

Happy Independence Day!

Some Fourth of July revelers consider fireworks too noisy, and sometimes dogs become so disturbed by the  blasts that they need a chill pill.

I love these colorful explosions in the sky. Photographers Nick Pacione and David Johnson love them too.

Nick Pacione uses a special technique that changes focus during the exposure of his photographs to capture the flash in time in a way our eyes could never see.

David Johnson uses a special focus technique of his own to show pyrotechnic displays in a whole new light.

Whether in the sky or in a photograph, may fireworks light up your Fourth of July this year!
