English novelist, short-story writer, dramatist, essayist, biographer, and travel writer Mary Shelley was born on this day in 1797.

Among her many accomplishments, she invented the genre of science fiction with the publication of a book you’ve probably heard of. If the thought of it makes your heart beat faster, you’re not alone. This famous tale still terrifies the world!

American writer, cartoonist, animator, book publisher, and artist Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on this day in 1904 in Springfield, MA.
